What Is New in Countly 27.0

Countly 27.0 brings a new version of Countly: the same data and projects, in a dashboard rebuilt around how you work. You can ask questions in plain language, reach any page in a few keystrokes, read a guide right beside the page you are on, and work in your own language and theme. This article walks you through what is new, from everyday improvements to the new tools in each section.

Availability

The new version needs Countly 27.0 or later. It runs side by side with the classic version, and you can move between the two whenever you like. Some features, such as Cee, appear only when they are available on your server.
To upgrade to Countly v27.0, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or submit a request to our Support team here.

Finding Your Way Around

Each area of Countly now has its own section. Analytics, Dashboards, Drill, and Experience each get a tab in the top bar, and the tools that run Countly itself sit under Manage. Inside a section, its pages are listed in the menu on the left.

Your projects, events, and history are all here. Home gives you your project at a glance: active profiles, usage, stability, engagement, and more, in sections you can reorder, open in full, or hide.

Searching with Discover

Press ⌘K on a Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux, on any page to open Discover. You can also click Discover in the top bar. Type to search shortcuts, pages, and events, or choose Ask Cee to hand your question to Cee.

When Discover opens, it lists what you starred and what you opened recently. Select an item to see its details beside the list.

Discover open over Home, with Ask Cee, the current page, starred items, and recently opened pages

To come back to a page with the same setup later, save it as a shortcut: choose Save what is on screen in Discover, or use the icon next to the page title. From the same icon, you can star a page so that it shows whenever Discover opens. Every shortcut you saved is listed under My shortcuts in the profile menu.

Using Keyboard Shortcuts

Countly shows each shortcut with the keys for your computer: ⌘ on a Mac, and Ctrl on Windows and Linux.

Mac Windows and Linux What It Does
⌘K Ctrl+K Opens or closes Discover
⌘I Ctrl+I Opens or closes Cee, when Cee is available
⌘U Ctrl+U Opens or closes the guide for the page you are on
⌘B or ⌘. Ctrl+B or Ctrl+. Collapses or expands the section menu on the left
⌘\ Ctrl+\ Hides or shows the details pane in Discover

While you write in a text editor, ⌘B, ⌘I, and ⌘U keep their usual meaning: bold, italic, and underline.

Making Countly Your Own

Your language, your number and date format, and your theme are all in the profile menu at the top right of the page. When you first open the new version, the welcome screen also asks you to choose your look and language.

Choosing Your Language

Countly is available in ten languages. In the profile menu, go to Language and pick one. Each language is listed by its own name:

Language Listed As
English English
Chinese 中文
French Français
German Deutsch
Italian Italiano
Japanese 日本語
Korean 한국어
Portuguese Português
Spanish Español
Turkish Türkçe

Countly saves your choice to your account, so it opens in your language on any browser you sign in from. Menus, labels, tips, and tours all follow it.

Setting Number and Date Formats

By default, numbers and dates follow the conventions of your language. To use another region's format, open the profile menu, go to Number and date format, and pick a region. Each option shows how a number and a date will look before you choose it, and Match language brings the default back.

Turning On Dark Mode

In the profile menu, go to Appearance and choose Dark. To switch back, choose Light. Countly remembers your choice on this browser.

Learning as You Go

The new version explains itself. Each documented feature has a guide built into Countly, and short tips and tours point out what changed as you move around.

Reading a Guide Beside the Page

Click the book icon in the top bar, or press ⌘U (Ctrl+U), to open the guide for the page you are on. The guide opens beside the page, so you can read a step and try it right away. A guide is organized into concepts, use cases, walkthroughs, and reference.

Click Guides at the top of a guide to see every guide, grouped the same way as the menus, with the number of sections and walkthroughs in each. If a section has no guide yet, Countly says so and offers Browse all guides instead.

Following a Walkthrough

Many guides include walkthroughs. Choose Show me on this page, and Countly highlights each part of the screen as you read about it. When a walkthrough belongs to another page, Take me there and show me opens that page first, and Hide highlights turns the highlights off.

Some guides also come with a short video. Choose Watch the guide to play it.

Discovering What Changed

When you first open the new version, a welcome screen greets you, and a short tour shows how the sections and menus are laid out and where the new features live. You can skip the tour at any time.

The first time you visit a section that changed the most, a short introduction explains what is different, and Show me around points it out on the page. On a page that improved, a chip by the title, such as 3 things are better here or New in this version, lists what changed. Choose Got it to put it away.

To see everything new in one place, click What's new in the top bar. It opens from any page and links to each feature, so you can try it right away.

Asking Cee, Your AI Analyst

Cee answers questions about your data in plain language. Open it from the top bar or press ⌘I (Ctrl+I), then ask in your own words. Cee replies with a chart from your data and the query behind it, ready to pin to a dashboard.

Cee can also build a cohort, funnel, query, or journey for you, ready to save.

Exploring What Is New in Each Section

Every section gained new tools. Here are some highlights, and each feature's guide covers the rest:

  • Analytics: Compare sessions, views, and events with the previous period, and see which rose, fell, or appeared for the first time. Funnels update live while you build them, sit side by side, and break any step down by a property. Crash rates and crash-free rates are tracked release by release.
  • Drill: Drill now starts from metrics. Put several events in one query and combine them in a formula, explore the results in a free table, analyze several projects at once, and share a saved query with specific people.
  • Dashboards: Start from a template that opens already filled with widgets, add a widget from any report in one click, and filter every widget at once. Put a dashboard on a TV for the team, or send it on a schedule as a branded e-mail report.
  • Experience: Journeys, push notifications, in-app messages, surveys, and ratings now live together. Start a journey from a template or from a funnel step, keep every kind of content in one library, design with your Brand Kits, and test changes with A/B experiments in Adaptive Variables.
  • AI Analytics: Give the AI features you ship a workspace of their own, from adoption and cost to quality and performance. See which models and agent tools are used, how often they fail, and what each one costs.
  • Alerts: Set an alert once and let it watch several projects, with up to three thresholds, each with its own severity and notification channels. Mute an alert for a while, and see every time it fired.
  • Manage: Review every pending settings change, old value against new, before you save it, and override a setting for a single project. Act on several users at once, and regenerate a project's app key in one step.
