Cohorts

Cohorts group profiles by who they are and what they do. A cohort can combine profile properties, such as country, plan or platform, with activity, such as an event a profile performed a number of times in a period, or an event it did not perform at all.

The Cohorts list, with each cohort's definition, its number of profiles, and its 7-day and today's change

Cohorts recalculate in real time as data arrives. Open a cohort to see how many profiles it holds over time, how many profiles enter and exit it, and how its profiles differ from everyone else, property by property.

A cohort's page, with its number of profiles over time, the profiles entering and exiting it, event divergence, and a breakdown of its profiles against everyone else

Cohorts also work across the rest of Countly:

  • In analysis: count a cohort's profiles as a metric in Drill, segment a funnel's conversion by cohort, filter the Profiles list by cohort, and show cohorts on dashboards.
  • In targeting: aim surveys, in-app messages, journeys and push campaigns at a cohort, and switch adaptive variables on per cohort.
  • In automation: start a hook when a profile enters a cohort.
