MCP Server
Connect AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT to your analytics. Each person signs in, chooses what the assistant may do, and can revoke it at any time.
What the MCP Server is
The MCP Server lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Gemini CLI work with your analytics. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard these assistants use to reach other tools.
A person adds this server's MCP URL to their assistant once. The assistant then opens this dashboard, where the person signs in with their usual login and approves the connection. From then on, the person can ask the assistant about events, views, crashes, users, funnels, retention and more, and have it do work for them.
An assistant acts as the person who approved it, in every project that person can access. It never gets more rights than that person has, and it needs no API key or token from them.
MCP is off on a new server. A global administrator turns it on in Manage > MCP Server, and decides there who may connect and what assistants may do. People who may connect find the MCP URL and each assistant's steps under Connect AI assistant in their user menu.
How access and connections work
Who can connect. In Settings, Who can connect has two options.
- People I choose: global administrators, and the users and groups given MCP access in Users & groups.
- Everyone: every dashboard user, within the projects they can already see.
With People I choose, open a user or a group in Users & groups and set its MCP access to No access, Read only or Read and change. A user also gets the access their groups give. Global administrators always have access, unless their account is locked.
What an assistant may do. Each connection has one of three access levels.
- Read only: reads your data and reports, and changes nothing.
- Read and change: can also create, edit and delete things the person could change themselves. This is offered only while Allow changes is on in Settings.
- Full admin: acts with all of a global administrator's rights, server settings included. This is offered only to global administrators, and only while Allow full admin access is on.
Approving a connection. When someone connects, the assistant sends them to a consent screen on this dashboard. It names the assistant, says whether that name is verified, and shows where the person returns after answering. The person chooses Access and how long the Connection lasts, then clicks Approve or Deny. The access choices depend on what the assistant asks for, the person's MCP access and this server's settings, so an assistant that asks only to read is offered only Read only.
How long a connection lasts. The person chooses 7, 30 or 90 days, up to the Longest connection set in Settings. When that setting is Until revoked, the person can also keep the connection until they or an administrator revoke it. When a connection ends, the assistant loses access until the person approves it again.
Revoking. People revoke their own connections on Connect AI assistant. Global administrators revoke anyone's on the Connections tab, or all of them at once in Settings. A revoked assistant loses access right away.
Use Cases
Turn on MCP for your team
Let your team connect their AI assistants, with the access you choose.
- Open Manage > MCP Server and click the Settings tab.
- Switch on Turn on MCP. If Public address is empty, it fills in the address this dashboard is open on. Click Change and enter another https address if assistants reach this server elsewhere.
- Under Who can connect, choose People I choose or Everyone.
- Under What assistants may do, switch on Allow changes if assistants may create, edit and delete things for people. Leave it off to keep every connection read only.
- Click Save in the bar at the bottom of the page.
- If you chose People I choose, open Users & groups, edit each user or group that needs access, and set MCP access to Read only or Read and change.
Connect your AI assistant
Work with your analytics from the AI assistant you already use.
- Open your user menu at the top right and click Connect AI assistant.
- Click the copy button beside the MCP URL.
- Click How to connect?, pick your assistant on the left, and follow its steps to add the URL.
- When the assistant opens this dashboard, sign in if you are asked to. Check the assistant's name, choose Access and how long the Connection lasts, then click Approve.
- Go back to the assistant and ask it a question about your data.
Review and revoke connections
Keep only the connections your team still uses, and cut off any you do not trust.
- Open Manage > MCP Server. When some connections need a look, a line under the counts names them: never used, not used in 30 days, or expiring within 7 days. Click Review connections.
- On the Connections tab, use the User and Assistant filters to find the connection.
- Click the revoke button at the end of its row, then click Revoke to confirm.
- To disconnect every assistant at once, open the Settings tab, click Revoke all in Danger zone, then click Revoke all connections.
See how your team uses assistants
See who uses AI assistants, for what, and where they go wrong.

- In Usage data, pick an existing Project, or Create a new project for MCP usage.
- Under People in usage data, choose Anonymous to count people without names, or Per person to see who does what.

FAQs
Do people need an API key or a token to connect?
No. They sign in to this dashboard with their usual login and approve the connection.
Can an assistant see projects I cannot?
No. It acts as you, in the projects you can access, and with no more rights than you have.
Does this server have to be reachable from the internet?
Only for cloud assistants, Claude and ChatGPT, which connect from their vendor's servers. Assistants on your computer, such as Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code, work with a server on your network.
Why is Connect AI assistant missing from my user menu?
Either MCP is not on here, or you have no MCP access. Ask a global administrator to turn it on, or to give you access in Users & groups.
Why can I choose only Read only when I approve?
The assistant asked only to read, your MCP access is Read only, or Allow changes is off on this server.
What happens when a connection expires?
The assistant loses access. Connect again from the assistant and approve it on the consent screen.
How do I stop an assistant I no longer use?
Revoke it under Your connections on Connect AI assistant. A global administrator can also revoke it on the Connections tab.
Why is the Analytics tab empty?
Usage data is not collected yet. Choose a project in Usage data on the Settings tab, and the tab fills in as assistants work.
