Compliance Hub

Every consent decision your users have made, per feature, and the tools to answer a data request: export one profile’s data or purge it, with an audit trail of who did what.

What Compliance Hub is

Consent is recorded per feature. When your app asks a user whether Countly may track sessions, events, crashes, or anything else, the answer arrives as an opt-in or an opt-out for that feature, and the profile carries the current state of every one of them. Compliance Hub, under Manage, is where those answers live, together with the two actions a data request needs: exporting one profile's data, and purging it.

It has four tabs. Overview counts opt-ins, opt-outs, exports, and purges over the date range. Profiles lists every profile with its current consent and holds the export and purge actions. Consent history is every consent change the project has recorded. Export & purge history is the audit trail of who exported or purged what, and it is visible to global administrators only. What the AI assistant can see and keeps is on a page of its own, Cee Privacy, under Manage.

Every tab is scoped to the project in the scope bar. The date range applies to Overview, Consent history, and Export & purge history. The Profiles list has no date dimension, because it shows the state each profile is in now.

What an export and a purge do

Both actions live in a profile's row menu on the Profiles tab, and both are written to the Export & purge history with the dashboard user who ran them.

Export profile data gathers what Countly holds for that profile into a file. Sometimes the file is ready at once and a notice offers the download. When there is more to gather, the export runs in the background: the row shows Export in progress, and once it completes the row menu offers Download export instead of Export. A stored export stays until you remove it with Delete export, and the data can be exported again later.

Purge profile data removes the profile's properties, custom events, and consent records permanently. It asks you to confirm first, and there is no undo.

Use Cases

Answer a data access request

A user has asked for a copy of the data you hold about them, and you have their device ID.

  1. Open Manage > Compliance Hub and the Profiles tab, check the scope bar names the right project, and search for the device ID.
  2. Open the row's menu and choose Export profile data. If the file is ready at once, a notice offers Download. If not, a notice says the export has started and the row shows Export in progress.
  3. For a background export, come back to the row. When it has finished, its menu offers Download export.
  4. Once the file has been handed over, choose Delete export from the same menu and confirm. The stored export is destroyed; the profile's data is not, and you can export it again later.

Erase a profile’s data

A user has asked you to delete everything you hold about them.

  1. On the Profiles tab, search for the device ID and find the profile.
  2. Open the row's menu and choose Purge profile data. Read the confirmation: the profile's properties, custom events, and consent records are removed permanently.
  3. Choose Yes, purge data. A notice confirms the purge.
  4. The Export & purge history tab records the purge as Profile purged, with your account and the time, and the Data purges card on Overview counts it for the range.

Find out when a profile changed consent

A user says they never agreed to something, and you need the record.

  1. On the Profiles tab, find the profile by device ID, open its row menu, and choose View consent history.
  2. The Consent history tab opens filtered to that profile, with a chip naming it above the table. Clear the chip to see every profile's changes again.
  3. Changes are listed newest first. Each row shows what changed as a pill per feature, plus for an opt-in and minus for an opt-out. Click a row to expand it for the full opt-in and opt-out lists, the device, and the app version.
  4. Narrow further with the Type and Feature filters, and set the date range in the scope bar to the period in question.
  5. To keep the evidence, use the table's download. The file follows the filters you have set.

FAQs

Why do I see a restricted-access notice on Export & purge history?

That tab reads the audit trail, and it is available to global administrators only. The other three tabs do not need that role.

I started an export and there is no Download. Where is it?

The export is running in the background. The row shows Export in progress, and Download export appears in its menu once the export completes. If the export failed instead, the Export & purge history tab shows the attempt with a Failed pill.

Does purging a profile also delete its consent history?

Yes. A purge removes the profile's properties, custom events, and consent records permanently.

Why does a profile show no consent at all?

It has never sent a consent decision. Consent is recorded when the SDK reports an opt-in or an opt-out; until then there is nothing to show.

Can I search by anything other than device ID?

No. Both the Profiles and Consent history searches match the device ID only. To find one profile's changes, use View consent history from its row on the Profiles tab.
