Data regeneration is generally needed after any changes are applied to metadata or aggregated data from UI.
It recalculates metadata or aggregated data after structural or data changes.
Regeneration may be required when:
Data types are modified
Segmentations are omitted
Granular data is deleted or corrected
Aggregated data is inconsistent with raw data
Metadata fields are missing in Drill
Two regeneration types are available:
Regenerate Metadata
Regenerates metadata definitions based on the current granular data structure.
Use this when:
New segmentation values are not visible in filters
Data type was changed (e.g., string → list)
Drill metadata is incomplete
Metadata regeneration does not recalculate statistical aggregates.
Regenerate Aggregated Data
Rebuilds aggregated statistics from granular data.
Available for:
Sessions
Events
Views
If Events or Views are selected, only one specific event or view can be regenerated at a time. Aggregated data regeneration recalculates charts, tables, and summary metrics.
Regeneration Process
When regenerating aggregated data, one of three data types from Sessions, Events, and Views is selected. If Events or Views are selected, a further selection must be made regarding which Event or View is to be regenerated, as only a single one can be regenerated at a time.
To regenerate data, follow the below steps:
- Click the 3-dot ellipsis button on the top right side of the page
-
Click on Regenerate Data
-
Choose regeneration type:
Metadata
Aggregated Data
- If Aggregated Data is selected:
Choose data type (Session, Event, or View).
If Event or View, select the specific item.
- If View is selected, pick a page from the drop-down list.
Select the date range using the date picker and Click save.
Note: Regeneration does not modify granular raw data. It rebuilds metadata or aggregated statistics based on existing raw data.
