Cohorts Agent

The Cohorts Agent helps you create and manage user Cohorts through conversation. In Countly, a Cohort is a group of users, defined by a certain criteria (such as performing specific events or having certain properties in common). Normally, you would create a cohort by going to the Cohorts screen and manually setting up filters (e.g. choosing properties or events that define the group of users). With Cee, this process becomes much simpler:

  • Initiating the Cohort Workflow: You can either request a cohort outright (e.g. “Create a cohort of users who made a purchase in the last week”) or be guided into it via Cee’s suggestions.
    • If you’re not already on the Cohorts page, Cee will first prompt you to go there.
  • Describing Your Cohort: Once you’re on the New Cohort form (the cohort creation screen), you can simply describe the cohort you want in plain language. The Cohorts Agent will interpret this description by looking at your app’s data schema - it knows what user properties (like platform, country) and event data are available in your database. It will then map your description to the appropriate filters.
  • Automatic Form Filling: Cee will then automatically fill out the Cohort creation form for you. You will see these fields populated on your screen as if you had entered them yourself.

  • Reviewing and Adjusting: If you’re satisfied with the setup, you can go ahead and save the cohort (creating it in Countly). If you want to adjust something:
    • you can either manually tweak the form fields
    • or tell Cee what to change. (Cee respects any manual changes you make on the form. For example, if you manually set the cohort visibility to “private”, the agent will keep that setting and not override it in subsequent steps. Cee’s memory for the current cohort includes your edits.)
  • JSON Preview (Advanced): You will notice a small “Terminal” icon appear in the chat interface whenever an object (cohort, funnel, etc.) is created. Clicking that reveals the raw JSON definition. This is optional, but it’s a great way for technical users to verify or copy the exact details of the cohort.
    • Apply to form button can let you fill the form any time if needed.
